Ben’s illustration shows a Yellow Seahorse, native to the coasts of China and Australia. The British Isles are home to two species of Seahorse – the Spiny Seahorse and the Short-snouted Seahorse. These tiny marine creates are fascinating – they pair for life, they change colour when they approach each other and in order to disguise themselves. The female transfers eggs to the male, who self-fertilises them, carries them as they grow and gives birth to them!
