Chiffchaff Greetings Card

£2.75

Chiffchaff Greetings Card

We are particularly delighted to have found an artist who, like we at Bee Eater HQ, has a soft spot for the humble Chiffchaff.  We say humble because this delightful bird is shy and he is rarely credited for the accompaniment he invariably provides in woodland, parks and gardens.  He blends in remarkably well with his surroundings, his olive brown plumage and even his pale eye stripe making him hard to spot.

Designed by the highly skilled artist Stephen Lennon, the Chiffchaff greetings card is part of his Songbirds and Seedheads range.  All Stephen’s designs start as a drawing, often from life, and inspired and informed by his knowledge and love of botany, honed during his time as a nurseryman.  His cards are printed locally (he’s a Yorkshireman in exile, now to be found in Northumberland) and the production of them supports many small businesses.

Dimensions square (14cm x 14cm) • FSC accredited carbon offset high white board • Blank inside • White envelope • Biodegradable compostable cellophane wrapped • Standard Letter Post

Bullfinch Greetings Card

£2.75

Bullfinch Greetings Card

Many garden and songbirds have names which don’t appear to do them justice (check out the beleaguered wren and thrush) but the Latin name of the bullfinch – Pyrrhula pyrrhula – is one which really appeals to us!

An adaptable feeder, the bullfinch will eat buds and shoots in spring and, handily, has a special sac at the foot of its mouth to store food.  When a high protein diet for the family is called for, the bullfinch will find insects to feed its young.

Designed by the highly skilled artist Stephen Lennon, the Bullfinch greetings card is part of his Songbirds and Seedheads range.

Great Tit greetings card

Great Tit Greetings Card

The Great Tit is, as its name suggests, larger than other tits.  In smart plumage with a distinctive black stripe down the front making it appear “waistcoated”, the Great Tit also has an amazing vocal repertoire.  Its basic tune, which sounds like “tea-cher, tea-cher tea-cher” on a loop, is only the start.  The male bird has four different songs which it can produce at three different tempos!

Designed by the highly skilled artist Stephen Lennon, the Great Tit greetings card is part of his Songbirds & Seedheads range.  Stephen’s designs start as a drawing, often from life, inspired and informed by his considerable botanical knowledge honed as a nurseryman.  His cards are printed locally (he’s a Yorkshireman in exile, now to be found in Northumberland) and the production of them supports many small businesses.

Nuthatch greetings card

£2.75

Nuthatch Greetings Card

This blue-grey, white and chestnut-coloured bird is an avian acrobat, able to descend head-first and hang upside down beneath twigs and branches.  Nuthatches will sometimes plaster mud around the entrance of their nesting hole, which makes it smaller and less accessible to competitors and predators.

Designed by the highly skilled artist Stephen Lennon, the Nuthatch greetings card is part of his Songbirds & Seedheads range.  Stephen’s designs start as a drawing, often from life, inspired and informed by his considerable botanical knowledge honed as a nurseryman.  His cards are printed locally (he’s a Yorkshireman in exile, now to be found in Northumberland) and the production of them supports many small businesses.

Blackbird Greetings Card

£2.75

Blackbird Greetings Card

The Blackbird is found throughout Britain and is particularly to be seen in parks and gardens.  You may hear it from January onwards often after rain (every cloud has a silver lining!).   It is also a home loving bird – most do not move far from where they hatched, in order to make a nest and have their own family.

Designed by the highly skilled artist Stephen Lennon, the Blackbird greetings card is part of his Songbirds and Seedheads range.  It elevates the humble blackbird to a new status we believe (and yes, we’re biased), showing the bird in splendid juxtaposition to both the seedheads and the acidic green of its surroundings.

Nightingale Greetings Card

£2.75

Nightingale Greetings Card

Though known for its lilting and beautiful song, the Nightingale is rarely seen, not least as it nests close to the ground in dense undergrowth.  It is the male whose song is so lyrical, the female by contrast keeps stum!  The nightingale’s brain  accounts for its vast vocal repertoire – the part of the brain responsible for producing sound is much larger in the nightingale than in other vocal competitors.  This allows him to produce up to 1,000 different sounds!  The skylark and blackbird come a poor second and third to with just 340 and 100 noises to their names, respectively.

Designed by the highly skilled artist Stephen Lennon, the Nightingale greetings card is part of his Songbirds & Seedheads range.  Stephen’s designs start as a drawing, often from life, inspired and informed by his considerable botanical knowledge honed as a nurseryman.  His cards are printed locally (he’s a Yorkshireman in exile, now to be found in Northumberland) and the production of them supports many small businesses.

Wild Roses and Wren Greetings Card

£2.75

Wild Roses and Wren Greetings Card

The Wild Rose is the epitome of a country garden or hedgerow and has been immortalised in song and verse since well before the times of Shakespeare.  The Wren too has her place in the literary pantheon being cited in Macbeth as an example of parental bravery.

Designed by the highly skilled artist Stephen Lennon, the Wild Roses and Wren greetings card is part of his Everyday Botanicals range.  Like all Stephen’s designs it started as a drawing, and shows the diminuitive Wren surrounded by both rose blooms and rose hips.  Stephen’s cards are printed locally (he’s a Yorkshireman in exile, now to be found in Northumberland) and the production of them supports many small businesses.
