The owl’s dark eyes indicate that he hunts by night. A bit of an omnivore, the Tawny Owl will eat a range of small mammals and rodents as well as small birds, frogs, fish, insects and worms. Their familiar call – Twit Twoo – is actually the combined conversation of a male and a female. If you hear a truncated call, it may well be a youngster, establishing his own territory for the first time!

Jacob Pugh crafts each of his birds at his furniture workshop in York with loving attention to the finish. Bird (Maple Blue) with its cerulean blue bib is a happy reminder of the Blue Tits which we’re lucky enough to see every day in our Bee Eater HQ garden!
With a body mass of just 10g the Blue Tit is small but beautifully formed. Voracious feeders, we’ve noticed that they are also the bullies of the bird table!
