This beautiful large Godwit jug features artist Sandra Vick’s black and white design of godwits – long-legged waders – around the bottom of the bone china jug. Superlatives abound in relation to this migrant; in 2020 a male godwit flew over 7,500 miles non-stop in its migration from Alaska to New Zealand, setting a new record for avian non-stop flight, but in the 1600s it was known as “the daintiest of dishes”, which may have contributed to its decline – it is currently on the Red list of endangered bird species.
Perfect as a milk or cream jug, or a flower vase , the large godwit jug makes an ideal gift for birthdays, house-warming and other occasions.
