Weighing as little as 7g, the wren is a truly tiny troglodyte (this is its Latin name, meaning cave-dweller). Hard to spot due to its size, hedge-coloured plumage and rapid darting movements, the wren’s flicking tail is often the visual cue that alerts us to its presence.
