The yellow wagtail is a lover of damp marshes, meadows and farmland, feeding on insects exposed by the feet of livestock.  Their cup-shaped nests are built at ground level or in long grass, using plants, grasses and stems before lining with fur (well, who doesn’t love a fur-lined nest?!).  They arrive in the UK in the summer having over-wintered in Africa, and can have up to two broods, each with five or six eggs.
