An avian ant-eater, the Green Woodpecker has a spectacularly long, sticky tongue which enables it to hoover up the tiny insects. When not hoovering, its tongue is so long it has to coil within the skull in order to fit inside the woodpecker’s head! Its strong bill allows it to create hollows in trees for nests as well as to probe the ground for its main food source.
The green woodpecker’s laughing call is also captured in lettering on the mug. And if egg-spotting’s your thing, there’s an illustration of a delicately coloured egg on the other side of the mug!
